Five Ideas to Reignite your Heart to God’s Word

We all know that reading the Bible is crucial for living the victories Christian life. What do you do when heart just isn’t in it? Here are my five ideas:

1.     Personalize the first chapter of Ephesians. “God has blessed Cindy with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, just as He chose Cindy in Him before the foundation of the world . . .” Read through the whole chapter again and again until your identity in Christ gets from your head to your heart.

2.     Research a particular word or topic. I suggest finding all the “fear not” passages and committing some to memory.

3.     Write your own psalm. As you pour out your lament and/or produce flowery praise, your heart will connect with the poetry of the psalms.

4.     List all the benefits of the Word of God. Here are three just to get you started. The Word reminds me of my identity. It acts as spiritual warfare when spoken out loud. The scriptures are Jesus’ invitation into a greater life.

5.     Declare a verse as a weapon of warfare over your family. Isaiah 54:17 is a good one, “No weapon forged against me and my family will prevail, and we will refute every tongue that accuses us. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from God.” I like Jeremiah 20:9, “We declare the flame of the Holy Spirit and power lives in our bones. It will be expressed!”

Those are my five ideas to awaken your heart to the Word again. I would love to hear your ideas. Please post them in the comments to share with everyone.
