We used to have a world map pasted on our family room wall. I spent hours on the floor in front of it, praying through the 10/40 window. I humbled myself for my own nation. I cried out for the nations where the gospel is banned or restricted. I tenderly . . .

King David, who is revered at Israel’s greatest king, is a type of King Jesus. I’m looking at King David’s two entrances into Jerusalem as a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ’s first and second comings.

King David inherited a defeated and divided kingdom . . .

My favorite chapter in scripture for the last few years has been Ephesians 1. It is a list of the spiritual blessings that God has lavished on us who are “in Christ.”

I love that word: lavish! It points to the unbelievable richness of the blessings . . .

I’m still musing on bearing the image of God. . . .

God created His beloved humans in His image and His likeness (Genesis 1:26). We bear the image of God. We belong to Him. We are His coin, to spend as He chooses. . . .

You are clean because of your decision for Christ!

I know that someone needs to hear that today. Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are a new creation. The old is gone; the new has come. We don’t have to live in guilt and shame any more. Praise Jesus!

Let’s get practical here. What does that look like? How does one “forgive?”

Forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling. We make a decision to forgive and declare it OUT LOUD! Again, there is great power in the words that we speak.

That’s all well and good. But what do we do with those negative memories and emotions . . . .

I would inwardly groan every time someone wanted to study the poem of the Proverbs 31 woman. I felt exhausted and overwhelmed at just the thought of trying to emulate that superwoman. That should have been my first clue that this proverb is a prophetic picture of the Bride of Christ. . . .

A deep longing for God throbs throughout this poetic song. The “beautiful temple” that the psalmist praised was an actual building. The building was grand in size and ornamentation, but that is not why he praised it. The “beautiful temple” represented the “Beautiful One.” To the Old Testament believer, the “beautiful temple” was the very presence of God.
