Celebrating 10 Years

God called me to start a blog in May of 2016 at a creativity conference. Trembling, I said yes.

I took a deep breath and committed to posting one devotion or teaching a week. Once a week felt like a BIG risk because up to that point, God had only sporadically given me nuggets from the Word. I knew without HIM, I have nothing of value to offer. God is the true author; I am the scribe.

To be on the safe side, I blocked my calendar on Mondays to pray and seek God’s face for something to post on Tuesdays. The terror in my heart faded in the warmth of His presence. Soon I realized that God had cleverly increased our time together in the secret place, which was probably His plan all along.

God and I kept our weekly rendezvous, and I continued to write. Readership was low, but I didn’t mind. I delighted in the fact that God had called me, and I gloried in His presence. The bonus: His shaping of my character, especially in the area of faithfulness.

Each new assignment that God calls me to feels impossibly huge. How can I accomplish that? Spoiler alert: I can’t. That is the point. I need Him.

I have written a whole series of children’s books leaning on His breast. I have yet to find an agent or a publisher for those books, but I am not afraid. These are His stories. God will make a way.
